How to clean the mattress with these super simple tips. Check out!

1- Gather the necessary material for cleaning the mattress

To deep clean a mattress, you'll need certain materials on hand.

  • a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment
  • an enzymatic cleaner or detergent to remove stains
  • laundry detergent
  • sodium bicarbonate
  • cleaning cloths
  • cold water

2. Take out the bedding and wash

Then remove sheets, (incidentally these should be washed, 1x a week or whenever needed), pillowcases and mattress covers and leave them in the washing machine while you work on cleaning the mattress. Washing all bedding in hot water will help get rid of dust mites. Depending on the type of pillow you have, you can wash them as well. (Check the care label.)

3. Vacuum the mattress

First, take the vacuum cleaner's upholstery attachment and go over the entire surface of the mattress, including the sides. Pay special attention to the seams and open the slit fitting to get any hidden dirt or dust out.

4. Clean your mattress with a stain remover

Now it's time to focus on getting stains out of your mattress, and that means spot cleaning. Never soak the mattress or apply water or cleaning solution directly to the mattress. Memory foam, for example, shouldn't get wet. For this reason, it is important to proceed with caution and operate on the principle that less is more.

So spot cleaning with a stain remover is. The stain remover you choose will depend on the type of stain and the type of mattress. For biological stains, use an enzymatic cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto a clean white cloth, then blot the stained area with the cloth. After that, you can apply cold water to a different clean cloth and continue drying until the stain is gone. The goal here is to use as little product and moisture as possible. This method is ideal for blood, sweat, vomit, urine and other related stains.

5. Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress

First of all, if you can't get your mattress out in the sun and fresh air, then baking soda is the next best thing. First, sprinkle a layer over the entire mattress top and leave on for several hours (or better yet, apply before a trip).

However, the baking soda will break down the acid and absorb any lingering moisture or odor. The longer you leave the baking soda on the mattress, the better it will work! Then open the bedroom windows to let the sunlight in. Plus, the sun's rays will actually help kill any mold or bacteria in your mattress.

6. Vacuum again

After the baking soda has worked its magic, vacuum it up thoroughly.

7. Turn the mattress

Now that the side is spotless, turn the mattress over and repeat steps 1-5 so that both sides are equally fresh and clean.

That is, flipping,,, should be done at regular intervals, whether you are deep cleaning the mattress or not. – Always verify with the manufacturer the regularity of this action.

Finally, protect your mattress with a mattress protector, which will make cleaning easier in the future and protect it from dirt, stains and other nuisances.

Cleaning a mattress will undoubtedly extend its lifespan and make it a pleasure to sleep on, but all good things must come to an end. After eight years or so, consider investing in a new mattress.
