Making your own potpourri is easy and you can use plants from your garden. If you want. Well, that's the tip for you to perfume your home.

Certainly, making potpourri is an easy task, the supplies are very inexpensive, and it's a way to reduce and recycle, limiting the chemicals you use in your home.

What is Potpourri?

First, this term is of French origin, which means mixture of elements. In other words, here the focus will be on mixing dry elements to perfume the house.

What will you need

Dried leaves and dried flowers, you can pick some in the park, or buy them and dry them at home

Aromatic Evas – As well as Lavender, Rosemary, Mint, Eucalyptus, etc…. (may be dry)

Essential oils, (scents to choose from) suggestion – Lavender- sweet orange- Eucalyptus- Sicilian lemon. etc…

Glass containers (can be recycled jars)

Dried Berries (optional)

How to Make Potpourri

First, take the dried flowers and leaves, together with the aromatic herbs, place them in a bowl, then add the drops of essential oil of your choice. (20 drops)

Then stir so that the oil mixes with the dry elements. Soon after, take the glass container with a lid, and insert the mixture and cover. Let it macerate for at least 2 weeks for the aroma to concentrate. Therefore, the longer it stays, the more consistent the smell will be.

However, every 2 or 3 days shake the jar to spread the aroma.

Finally, after the 2 weeks have passed, for a nice visual effect, consider choosing an original container, such as a large plate or even a vase. Your potpourri is ready to gently scent your home,

To accentuate the smell or refresh it after a few days, you can add a few drops of essential oils.

Finally, be aware that wood and bark are odor fixers and will your vase last longer . In this category you will find citrus peels, but also patchouli, cedar and sandalwood.
